<p>A heavy duty radial tyre comprises a radial carcass ply (6) turned up around bead cores (5) from the axially inside to outside of the tyre, and a steel cord bead reinforcing ply (9) disposed along the axially outer surface of the carcass ply turnup portion (6b). The height (P) of the carcass ply turnup portions is 1.5 to 3.5 times the rim flange height (H). The bead reinforcing ply (9) extends so that the radially inner end (D) is disposed on the radially inside of a straight line (N) drawn between the axially inner extreme end (I) and the axially outer extreme end (O) of the bead core (5), and the radially outer end (F) is spaced apart from the radially outer end (E) of the turnup portion by a radial distance of from 5 to 20 mm. The radially outer ends (E,F) of the turnup portions and the radially outer ends of the bead reinforcing plies are each covered with a cap (11) made of hard rubber having a JIS-A hardness of 75 to 85 degrees. <IMAGE></p> |
