PURPOSE: A signal interface for bidirectional communication system is provided to supply both television and data signals to users by positioning the signal interface in a set-top box of the cable television/communication system. CONSTITUTION: A signal interface for bidirectional communication system includes a diplexer(76) interposed between an RF input/output terminal(78) of a set-top box and a signal divider(66). The diplexer is located in front of the signal divider for preventing the attenuation of return data channel signals, so that a return data channel amplifier of a lower gain is usable. The signal divider is operable within a smaller frequency range since the signal divider operates in a frequency band of video signals but not in a frequency band in which the video signals are coupled with return data channel signals.
