PURPOSE: An apparatus for enhancing rack capacity and speed for mailing services in a communication system is provided to reduce the size of a rack for mailing services and to improve processing speed. CONSTITUTION: A rack(200) consists of a main module(210), a trunk module(220), hard disk modules(230,231), and processing modules(240,241). The main module(210) controls the overall operations of the rack(200), supports internal LAN communication, and executes alarm control. The trunk module(220) executes connection with incoming E1 or T1 link, signalling for transmission and reception, and switching operations. The hard disk modules(230,231) store data for mailing services. The processing modules(240,241) process and store received voice or fax data and converts stored data into a voice message or fax data.
