PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for optimizing the exposure time for an area of the pixel of an image sensor array during an exposure. CONSTITUTION: This invention utilizes a time interval sampling of an image sensor array, consisting of pixels configured to generate a digital image signal. A luminance value is extracted from each digital image signal and analyzed, to decide whether each pixel reaches optimum exposure. The digital image signal succeeding to the pixel reaching the optimum exposure is not recorded, and the optimum digital image signal generated when the pixel reaches the optimum exposure is stored. The processing selectively stopping the recording of the digital image signal, on the basis of the optimum exposure of the pixel is conducted by each pixel or each pixel area.
