PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer on which a screen with a shape to prevent image quality deterioration in an output image is mounted, to provide a screen generating method and a recording medium with a screen generating control program recorded therein. SOLUTION: In the printer of this invention that expresses gradation by each element color on the basis of dots of image reproduction data and reproduces an image, and prints out the reproduced image onto a medium, a half-tone processing section 66 generates image reproduction data corresponding to the dots by each element color on the basis of the gradation data by referencing a conversion table having cross-referencing data between the gradation data expressing the gradation and the image reproduction information. Then a screen generating control section 100 controls generation of the image reproduction data in the half-tone processing section so that the aspect ratio of the screen consisting of the dots by each element color is extended in a medium feeding direction.
