PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red-color electroluminescent element which has a high utilization efficiency of electric energy, and which has a high luminance and which is superior in the chromatic purity. SOLUTION: This is the element in which a luminescent substance exists between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and which emits light by the electric energy, and the element contains a compound expressed in formula (1). Here, R1 to R8 may be either the same or may be different and selected from hydrogen, alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, aralkyl group, alkenyl group, cycloalkenyl group, alkynyl group, hydroxy group, mercapto group, alkoxy group, alkylthio group, aryl ether group, arylthio ether group, aryl group, heterocyclic group, halogen, haloalkane, haloalkene, haloalkyne, cyano group, aldehyde group, carbonyl group, carboxyl group, ester group, carbamoyl group, amino group, nitro group, silyl group, siloxanyl group, a ring structure formed between neighboring substituted groups. Further, at least one of R1 to R8 is aryl group.
