PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a conventional structured database generating device requires a word database wherein a sufficient number of words are previously stored and, particularly, a large-scale data base requires considerable operation for word registration. SOLUTION: This structured database generating device is equipped with a name data storage means 3, a node name candidate extracting means 4 which makes the longest-length matching comparison between character strings of pieces of name data from the beginning to the end to extract a node name candidate, a node name selecting means 5 which selects a proper node name, a hierarchical structure generating means 6 which generates a structure database by constituting a hierarchical structure of selected node names, etc., and a hierarchical structure storage means 7 which stores the structured database.
