PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device by which a user can perform version up by easily obtaining a program, etc., without directly transmitting a storage medium for version up to the user whenever the version-up of the program, etc., is performed. SOLUTION: The reproducing device is provided with a rewritable storage means 27 in which a first program 37 is recorded, a mounting part 22 to which the storage medium 21 in which data 30 for reproduction and a second program 32 are recorded is mounted, a reading means to read the data 30 for reproduction and the second program 32 in the storage medium 21, a comparison means 17 to compare the read second program 32 with the first program 37 in the storage means 27 and to detect which is a newer program and a rewriting means 16 to rewrite the second program 32 in the storage means 27 instead of the first program 37 in the storage means 27 when the comparison means 17 detects that the second program 32 is newer.
