PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic draft feeder for a copying machine that holds discharged originals without using a paper discharge tray so as to make an installed space of the feeder more compact. SOLUTION: The automatic draft feeder for an electrophotographic unit is characterized by that inserting an original to a paper supply port 15 via an original tray and an original guide plate allows an original detection means 30 to detect the leading edge of the original so as to operate paper feed rollers 31a, 31b and paper discharge rollers 32a, 32b, thereby carrying the original from the paper feed port to a paper discharge port 16 through an image exposure area. When the last edge of the original is detected by the original detection means 30, the paper feed rollers and the paper discharger rollers, are stopped and the paper discharge rollers through the detection of the last edge of the original are stopped in timing when a couple of the paper discharge rollers clamp the last edge of the discharged original.
