PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to restart communication without inserting/ drawing out a connector when a communication error due to electrostatic noise is generated in a device corresponding to the USB communication standards. SOLUTION: An electronic switch 11 is inserted between the power supply VCC of a device 8' and pull-up resistor R5 and the control terminal of the switch 11 is controlled by a microcomputer 12 to turn on/off between the power supply VCC and the resistor R5. When a communication error is generated due to electrostatic noise or the like, the host 7 stops communicating operation because there is no response from the device 8'. In the device 8', the microcomputer 12 detects the communication error, turns on the switch 11 after turning off the switch 11 once and impresses voltage to USB communication lines D+, D- to allow the host 7 to recognize the connection of the device 8' and start communication again. Consequently the communication can be automatically restarted without requiring user's operation.
