PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily cope with change in arrangement, etc., by separating arrangement itself of pattern strings and a pattern itself of a dictionary from a processing flow. SOLUTION: An area to which shift matching is performed is decided by using an original image storage means, pattern string arrangement information storage means and a dictionary storage means, a matching processing is performed in the area as shifting it by using stored dictionaries, a maximum value extraction processing and a pattern string generation processing using all dictionaries are performed.
