PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader in an image forming device that adjusts image quality depending on an image read mode. SOLUTION: The image reader in the image forming device is provided with a period adjustment means that adjusts a period of a horizontal synchronizing signal given to an image sensor, a speed adjustment means that adjusts a speed of a scan motor, and a control means that controls the period adjustment means and the speed adjustment means in response to an image read mode.
