PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the possibility of a polymer PTC element causing a characteristic failure due to thermal deterioration and, at the same time, to manufacture the element inexpensively. SOLUTION: The main body section of this polymer PTC element 10 is constituted of a plate-like element main body 12 composed of a polymer and a conductive substance scatteredly contained in the polymer. Paired electrodes 14 for energization are respectively provided on both the upper and lower surfaces of the main body 12 and connected to paired lead terminals 16 formed in narrow and long plate-like shapes through Sn-Bi alloy solder 18.
