PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which is made to have a superior charging and discharging cycle characteristics by improving a negative mix layer. SOLUTION: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises an anode, which holds a mix layer including a carbon material that can store and release lithium on a collector. The mix layer of an anode is a double layer made of a surface layer and a collector side layer, and an open circuit potential of the carbon material included in the collector side layer is higher than that of the carbon material included in the surface layer.
