PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing data recorded in a missing mobile terminal from being read, falsified or deleted by someone else and to provide a mobile terminal data protection system. SOLUTION: The possessor of a missing mobile terminal makes notification of missing to a position registration station. When the missing mobile terminal makes communication with a base station, the base station checks the presence of missing notification recorded in a missing notification recording means and transmits a signal there is missing to the mobile terminal, when the missing notification is recorded, and the mobile terminal is operated to inactivate operations of keys of the mobile terminal in accordance with the signal. Or the data in the mobile terminal are transferred to a database of the position registration station and the transferred data are recorded in the database or the data in the mobile terminal are deleted. Furthermore, even if the mobile terminal cannot make communication with the base station, key operations of the mobile terminal are invalidated, as long as no correct password is entered.
