<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error picture supplementing method in an image decoder for securely supplementing image data when there is the loss of the image data caused by erroneous transmission. SOLUTION: The image decoder 10 detects the position of a macro block lost due to the erroneous transmission, etc., by an error detection circuit 27 and supplies the result of the detection to a motion searching circuit 29. The circuit 29 detects an already decoded area adjacent to the error macro block of a present frame, detects the area of a front frame corresponding to the detected decoded area by motion searching and reads a compensation area corresponding to an error macro block adjacent to the detected area from an image memory 23. Image data in the read compensation area is supplied to an adding circuit 21 through a motion compensation circuit 25 and outputted as supplement image data instead of the lost data of the decoded image from an inverse orthogonal transformation circuit 17.</p> |
