PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier device constituting a camera by which a user can easily take a photograph with a right hand or a left hand by improving constitution where a barrier member to open/close a photographing lens by sliding on the front of the camera is moved in one direction along the front of the camera with the right hand so as to open the photographing lens and is known as the one used in the camera held with the right hand in such a case, which is not inconvenient in the case of taking the photograph with the right hand but is inconvenient in the case the user does not have the full use of his right hand or under conditions that he must take the photograph with his left hand at any means. SOLUTION: This barrier member covering over the photographing lens, a finder objective window and a photometry and range-finding window or the like on the front of the camera is constituted so as to slide in an optional direction on a right side or a left side. Then, a shutter release member and other operating members used at the time of photographing are provided on the barrier member.
