PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal-plane shutter for a camera equipped with a braking mechanism which is constituted of a small number of parts and where set torque in an initial stage is restrained to be little. SOLUTION: A driving member 4 has a driving pin 4b coupled with a blade group. In the finish stage of exposure operation, the driving pin 4b presses the parts to be pressed 23a and 25a of two braking members 23 and 25 and is braked by elastically deforming a part of the members 23 and 25. When the driving pin 4b abuts on a cushioning member 2 and bounds thereafter, the restraining parts 23b and 25b of the member 23 and 25 restrain the bounding. Since the folded part 12f of a setting member 12 is separated from the parts to be restricted 23c and 25c of the members 23 and 25 in the initial stage at the time of setting operation, the members 23 and 25 freely rotate and do not become the load at the time of setting substantially.
