PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set with high security where recognition of specific information by other party can be prevented from a DTMF tone when a specific information is entered and to provide is DTMF tone generating method. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set is provided with a key 4 to enter information, DTMF generating sections 9, 10, 11, 12 to generate a DTMF tone, and a control section 13 that suppresses generation of a DTMF tone from a DTMF tone generating section when the key is used to enter the specific information such as a password requested from the portable telephone set, a password and an encryption number with respect to an Internet browsing software program or a password requested from a network.
