PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent paper jam and poor transferring caused by poor attaching and poor detaching of a transfer material being recharged by a cleaning means of a belt carrying the transfer material. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has image forming assemblies PM-PK that include image holding body 1 on which visual images are formed, a carrying assembly 60 that adjoins the image holding body 1 and includes a carrying belt 6 holding/carrying a transfer material P by electrostatic attaching force and allowing the transfer material P to pass through an area where the visual images are transferred, and a cleaning means 90 that cleans the carrying belt 6. In the image forming apparatus, discharge means 93c, 93d are located at both upstream position of the image forming assembly PM and downstream position of the cleaning means 90 in the moving direction of the carrying belt 60. |
