PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen the amount of damage within a fixed amount even if a portable medium holding electronic currency should be lost or stolen and to adjust a settlement waiting time by completing final settling processing for a sheet of portable medium always within a fixed period. SOLUTION: A transportable medium 50 capable of storing electronic currency is provided with a remainder upper limit setting part 11 for setting the upper limit amount of an electronic currency remainder in this medium 50, a transaction processing part 15 for performing transaction using the medium 50, a remainder calculation part 16 for calculating a new remainder after performing a transaction by this part 15, a judging part 17 for judging whether the calculated new remainder exceeds the upper limit, a refund amount calculation part 18 for calculating an amount exceeding the upper limit amount as a refund amount in the case of judging the new remainder exceeds the upper limit amount and cash releasing parts 36 and 37 for paying the refund amount to a customer in cash. |
