PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulating/demodulating device that can record/ reproduce a MIDI data audio signal at a high recording transfer rate without the need for employing data compression that is attended with missing information in the case of recording the MIDI data to a music recording channel for a recording medium such as a CD as an audio signal. SOLUTION: The modulating device 10 modulates an audio signal to be recorded on the basis of received MIDI data in order to record the MIDI data on one channel of a music CD 22 capable of recording the audio signal of a plurality of channels as an audio signal, and is provided with a MIDI→Data conversion module 11 that supplements a synchronous signal to the received MIDI data to convert the MINI data into consecutive data signals in the unit of 4-bit and with a modulation module 12 that converts the data signal into an audio signal through 16 differential phase shift keying(DPSK) where the 4-bit unit is used for one symbol.
