PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that applies gamma correction and noise reduction processing to image data so as to reduce roughness of an image due to a noise component of a dark part. SOLUTION: An original read section 40 applies noise reduction processing to only image data of pixels where a slope of a gamma curve denoting a gamma characteristic of an output means is larger than a prescribed threshold value among image data subjected to gamma correction processing. The noise reduction processing is referred to the processing for averaging image data of a target pixel and its peripheral pixels to decide a pixel value of the target pixel or applying filter processing using a median filter to the image data of the target pixel and its surrounding pixels to decide a pixel value of the target pixel. Furthermore, the noise reduction processing is applied only to a photographic area. |
