USER INTERFACE USING POINTING DEVICE FOR COMPUTER HAVING INFRARED BRIDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user interface capable of improving the operability of infrared communication between a computer and the other device. SOLUTION: An IR transceiver is integrated into a pointing device. An infrared communication link is established between the other device and the IR transceiver of the pointing device. The pointing device relays communication between a host computer and the other device through a cable to the host computer. A user interface is provided with a function for arranging the cursor of a graphical interface on an icon on a picture or the other area. The data of communication started by a user are transmitted to the area of the screen or the operation indicated by the icon is performed.
