PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve a route between two arbitrary stations fast nationwide. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an inter-station account table in which a country is divided into zones and information on routes between all account stations in the zones is stored by the zones, an inter-zone account table in which a path between two arbitrary zones among the zones is stored as a route connecting zone exit and entry stations set by the zones, and a station information table in which the zones that stations belong to and account stations nearby the stations are stored by the stations. When inputted getting-on and getting-off stations are not account stations, they are replaced with the nearest stations and when the getting-off station is a station in the same zone, a route is obtained by retrieval from the inter-station account table. When the stations are in different zones, the route between the zones is obtained from the inter-zone account table and the route to exit and entry stations in each zone is obtained from the inter-station account table. A large zone is further divided into small zones.
