PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately detect a remaining coin in a temporary holding part and standing of a coin cylinder in a coin housing part at a coin housing time for housing coins in the temporary holding part in an each-denomination coin housing part. SOLUTION: When housing coins, a stage means is moved down to house the coins in the temporary holding part in the each-denomination coin housing part. A measuring means measures the moving quantity of the stage means required for housing the coins in the temporary holding part in the each- denomination coin housing part. A converting means converts the measured moving quantity of the stage means to the number of the housed coins to be housed in the each-denomination coin housing part. A comparing means compares the number of the held coins held in the temporary holding part with the converted number of the housed coins. When the number of the held coins is larger than the converted number of the housed coins, it is discriminated that a coin is left in the temporary holding part and when the number of the held coins is smaller than the converted number of the housed coins, it is discriminated that a coin cylinder stands in the each-denomination coin housing part.
