PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the disturbance of magnetization in an active layer. SOLUTION: The magnetic storage cell includes a reference layer 54 constituted to minimize the active layer 50 and the disturbance to the magnetization in the active layer 50. The reference layer 54 is constituted so that a pair of both side edge parts are protrudes from a pair of corresponding edge parts of the active layer 50. The influence of a decreased magnetic field to the active layer 50 can be minimized by using the constitution. Furthermore, both the side edge parts of the reference layer 54 is thinned, the influence of a coupling magnetic field to the active layer 50 is controlled, and the balance of the decreased magnetic field can be taken.
