PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that data cannot be securely recorded on a disk due to the restriction imposed by the specifications of an FDC provided on a host computer side. SOLUTION: An FDC 17 is provided in a disk device 10 and timing for a writing is controlled within a drive. When data are to be written onto a Floppy (R) disk, writing can be started after detection is made to determine the fact that a head is positioned within a processing allowable discriminating value of a track without being restricted by the specifications of the FDC that is provided within a host PC 40. Thus, data are reliably written within a prescribed range of the track and compatibility between devices is improved.
