PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a theft prevention tag of high reliability of theft prevention owing to the protection of a wire against a short circuit. SOLUTION: A plug 4 is made up of a pin-like member 41 having a cylinder closed at one end by a pointed head. The wire 3 comprises a conductor 32 made by stranding a plurality of wires and covering it with an insulation cover 31, and at one end of the cover 31 the conductor 32 still extends out. An insulation layer 33 is further formed coating around the conductor 32 through the overall covered length by painting clear insulating material possessed of high mechanical strength such as enamel. The end of the conductor 32 extending out of the end of the cover 31 without the above layer 33 is inserted into the other open end of the pin-like member 41 and fixed with it by caulking the member 41 around the other end.
