PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head assembly capable of easily and firmly connecting a magnetic head with a head base. SOLUTION: This magnetic head assembly is provided with a thin film magnetic head 2, and a head base 1. The thin film magnetic head 2 is fixed to one surface 1a of the head base 1, and a terminal plate 3 is formed in the other surface 1b. A terminal plate 3 is further formed in the side face 1c of the head base 1, and the terminal plate 3 formed in the side face 1c and the terminal pattern 6 of the thin film magnetic head 2 are electrically connected to each other. Thus, when the terminal pattern 6 and the terminal plate 3 are electrically connected to each other by wire bonding or the like, three- dimensional movement such as the rotation of the thin film magnetic head 2 or the like is made unnecessary, and no unnecessary stress is applied on the electrical connection part. Therefore, electrical connection work is facilitated, and firm connection is provided.
