PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless packet communication method that can attain efficient data communication in accordance with a half duplex communication method. SOLUTION: In the wireless packet communication method, where communication is conducted between a network control station and a mobile station while selecting a high-speed communication mode only for outgoing packet data communication using all slots of communication channels or a low-speed communication mode conducting 2-way packet data communication using a prescribed slot of the communication channels, the network control station transmits a 1st control signal to the mobile station in the low speed communication mode, the mobile station transmits a signal denoting whether the network control station can shift to the high-speed communication mode to the network control station and becomes a communication mode corresponding to the state as to whether the shift to the high-speed communication mode is available, and the network control station becomes the communication mode, on the basis of a reply from the mobile station after the transmission of the 1st control signal. This task can be attained by the wireless packet communication method in this way.
