PURPOSE: An EGR valve is provided to promote the fuel efficiency of a vehicle by surely discriminating a state needing exhaust gas recirculation or a state not needing exhaust gas recirculation through the improved attachment of an EGR valve to an exhaust manifold and the change of the shaft of a valve controlling exhaust gas recirculation amount. CONSTITUTION: An EGR valve(200) including a back pressure hose(100), an exhaust gas recirculation amount adjusting valve(130) and a spring(140) is mounted to vertically open and shut the flow of exhaust gas recirculating through an exhaust manifold(120). When a vehicle is operated in a range needing exhaust gas recirculation, an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) transmits a back pressure generating signal to an actuator. The actuator generates back pressure and feeds the back pressure to the back pressure hose of the EGR valve. By the back pressure, opening degree of the valve(130) is adjusted and exhaust gas recirculation amount is regulated. In a range not needing exhaust gas recirculation, back pressure is not generated and the valve(130) is closed by the tension of the spring. Thus, recirculation from the exhaust manifold from an intake manifold is restrained.
