The invention concerns a biomaterial loaded with superparamagnetic iron oxide particles so as to exhibit a signal different from that of the non-loaded biomaterial and that of the biological medium wherein it is placed for one or several types of MRI sequences, said biomaterial consisting of at least a hydrophilic polymer. The invention is characterised in that said superparamagnetic iron oxide particles are complexed with a hydrophilic polymer identical to or different from that of the biomaterial, and said superparamagnetic iron oxide particles complexed with a polymer are homogeneously distributed without agglomerate in the biomaterial hydrophilic polymer. The invention also concerns a method for preparing a biomaterial.
