AXIAL FOUR-STROKE ENGINE

PURPOSE: An axial four-stroke engine is provided to reduce the size and weight of an engine by using the advantages of a piston-reciprocating engine and a rotary engine. CONSTITUTION: An axial four-stroke engine comprises: a housing(10) consisting of a pair of cylinders having open faces while the open faces are symmetric to each other; a boss placed on the same central line with the housing; a supporter(20) supporting the boss while closing the open faces of the housing and having plural inner and outer holes(20a,20b); a rotor(30) mounted in the housing with the interposition of a shaft(60) and of which symmetric faces are formed in a sine curve; plural walls(40) installed to slide and linearly move on the supporter and extended to contact to both curved faces of the rotor; and a valve body(50) installed to rotate with the rotor while contacting to the inner face of the housing and the outer face of the boss to open an air path through openings. According to the structure, the number of such operational components as a valve is reduced. Moreover, the size and weight of an engine are reduced.
