<p>An inexpensive mirroring RAID system comprising a single magnetic disc drive. The magnetic disc drive comprises a host I/F (2) for receiving data transferred from an external host unit, a magnetic disc (10) for recording data, a magnetic head (11) for recording data on the magnetic disc (10) and a preamplifier circuit (16). The magnetic disc drive is further provided with a CPU (5) for controlling the magnetic head (11) and the preamplifier circuit (16) so that the number of possible duplicate recording of transferred data on the magnetic disc (10) can be calculated based on the transfer rate of data transferred from the external host unit and a performance index inherent to a magnetic disc drive and so that the data transferred from the external host unit can be recorded on the magnetic disc (10) by a plurality of recordings the number of which is lower than the number of possible duplicate recordings thus calculated.</p> |
