A network of members is established by acquiring electronic information including existing electronic mail addresses for more than one prospective network members from an information provider, and enabling secure communications between the information provider and each of the prospective network members based on the electronic information received from the information provider. The acquiring of electronic information may include acquiring electronic information regarding at least one of a prospective network member's name, address and telephone number, acquiring security information from the first entity to limit access by a prospective network member to information available on the network, and/or acquiring information regarding the identity of the prospective network members. The enabling of secure communications may be performed automatically without requiring additional input from the information provider. The enabling of secure communications may include requesting authorization from the prospective network members to enable secure communications, receiving authorization from at least one of the prospective network members, and configuring the computer used by each authorizing prospective network member to enable communications between the information provider and the authorizing prospective network member based on the electronic information acquired from the information provider when authorization is received from the prospective network members. The requesting of authorization may include automatically sending an electronic mail message to the electronic mail addresses acquired to request authorization from the prospective network members, and the configuring may include automatically configuring the computer used by the authorizing prospective network member without requiring additional input from the authorizing prospective network member. |
