METHOD OF ASSIGNING MULTI-CASTING SERVER FOR GROUP COMMUNICATION IN ATM NETWORK

PURPOSE: A method of assigning a multi-casting server for group communication in an ATM network is provided to improve data transfer delay state between a transmitter and a receiver by reducing the traffic of an ATM network. CONSTITUTION: Phase information including topology information of an ATM network, a set of a multi-casting server, and data receiver and transmitter information are read(S1). One index number of a multi-casting server having the shortest path is obtained, The multi-casting server is decided as an optimum multi-casting server, and the minimum path value is obtained(S2). An overlapped path between the shortest path between the transmitter and the multi-casting server, the shortest path between the receiver and the multi-casting server are checked(S3). An identifier of the multi-casting server is transferred to the receiver if there is not the overlapped path(S5). The shortest path between the transmitter and the receiver is obtained(S6). An identifier of the transmitter is transferred to the receiver(S7).
