PURPOSE: A gearshift lever for an automatic transmission of a vehicle is provided to support a detent pin via a buffering lever mounted at a side surface of a detent plate to elastically rotate, thereby reducing the impact induced by the contact of the detent pin with a securing groove of the detent plate and the contact noise. CONSTITUTION: A gearshift lever for an automatic transmission of a vehicle including a mounting base assembly having a rod assembly with a detent pin(18) mounted on a transmission rod(12) movably in the vertical direction and a detent plate(26) with a securing groove(26a) contacting the detent pin, includes a buffering lever(28) mounted on the detent plate to be elastically supported via a rotation pin(P) and a torsion spring(T) to rotate at a front end and formed with a securing groove(28a) at a lower part, wherein the securing groove of the buffering lever is mounted at a lower place than the securing groove of the detent plate and formed with the same shape with the securing groove of the detent plate, and the other front end of the buffering lever is limited in downward rotation by a stopper pin(30) protruded on the detent plate.
