An extract of minari which is a plant containing a component capable of preventing cancer and cancer metastasis. More particularly speaking, a minari extract which is useful in preventing cancer and cancer metastasis induced by urethane (EC (ethyl carbamate)) contained in fermented foods and alcoholic drinks or NNK [{(4-N-methyl-N-nitrosoamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone}] which is a carcinogen contained in cigarette smoke.
