The airbag cover (1) comprises an intermediate layer (4) which is firmly joined to both the carrier frame (8) and the decorative layer (5). This intermediate layer is designed to tear during inflation of the airbag in such a way that the decorative layer is separated from the carrier frame at least over certain area zones. Also claimed is a method for deploying an airbag provided with such a cover.
