In a transdermal therapeutic system (TTS) with moxonidine or related compound (A), comprising an impermeable backing layer, pressure-sensitive adhesive reservoir of (A) and a removable protective layer, (a) the reservoir is based on hydrophilic polymer (I) and/or (b) the reservoir contains a mixture of at least 12C alkanoic acid (II) and at least 12C unsaturated carboxylic acid (III). In a transdermal therapeutic system (TTS) with moxonidine or a related compound as active agent (A), comprising an impermeable backing layer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive reservoir of (A) and a removable protective layer, (a) the reservoir is based on a hydrophilic polymer (I) selected from polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (or other cellulose derivatives) and polyethylene glycol and/or (b) the reservoir contains a mixture of at least 12C alkanoic acid(s) (II) and at least 12C unsaturated carboxylic acid(s) (III). An independent claim is included for the preparation of the TTS by: (a) applying part of the adhesive to a release liner carrier film and covering the adhesive strip with siliconized paper; (b) stamping out a piece of nonwoven of a suitable area; (c) removing the siliconized paper and applying the nonwoven to the adhesive strip; (d) dosing the nonwoven with (A)-containing enhancer solution; (e) applying adhesive to siliconized paper and covering the adhesive strip with a covering film; removing the siliconized paper, and (f) laminating the adhesive strip with the nonwoven covered carrier film.
