FORMING PROCESS OF POROUS FORMED BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forming process which enables optimum forming of a porous formed body having a humidity conditioning effect and a deodorization effect. SOLUTION: This forming process comprises: using diatomaceous earth as a main raw material; adding aggregate and a hardening agent to the main raw material; mixing them together so as to obtain a mix having a 5-25 wt.% or preferably, 8-20 wt.% water content; and subjecting the mix to press forming and thereafter hardening to form a porous formed body 6. In the forming process, since such a press forming method is used in order to reduce the water content to a level as low as possible, the porous formed body thus obtained has no warpage and no cracks and also practically feasible strength sufficient to meet the requirements.
