PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical position detector formed by a photo reflector and a reflector disposed opposite to the photo reflector, keeping linearity of detecting position and relative photo detecting amount with a simple pattern form by improving the reflector. SOLUTION: The reflector 11 is cut like a saw, disposed in parallel to a light emitting element 12a and a photo detecting element the photo reflector 12b of the element surface of the photo reflector 12, and moved as shown by a arrow. The reflector 11 is formed in a saw-like simple pattern so that the area ratio is varied in the position detecting direction (arrow direction). Light projected from a light projecting element 12a of the photo reflector 12 is reflected on an affecting part of the reflector 11, and detected as a current value having linearity corresponding to the position relationship between the photo reflector 12 and the reflector 11 by the photo detecting element 12b of the photo reflector 12.
