PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a roll arranged in a liquid storing area without using a mechanical drive means such as a chain which is corrodible. SOLUTION: In this roll driving means for rotating, by a transmission 14, the roll 13 arranged in the liquid storing area A for storing a processing liquid, the transmission 14 is provided with a pressure receiving tool 16 arranged in the area A to convert jet pressure of a received fluid into roll driving force, and a nozzle 17 for jetting the fluid toward the tool 16. Since the fluid is jetted from the nozzle 17 toward the tool 16 immersed into the processing liquid B to drive the roll 13, the roll is driven without using the chain which is corrodible and to prevent also dust from being generated by abraision or the like.
