PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper jam detecting device capable of preventing to be soiled or damaged by stopping recording operation speedy when paper jam is occurred. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an audio detecting means for detecting paper jam sound and converting the paper jam sound to an electronic signal, and an amplifying means for amplifying the electronic signal. The paper jam is detected by frequency components contained in the electronic signal amplified by the amplifying means.
