PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peelable coating composition which provides long-term protection of a substrate against a harmful influence from foreign substances and weather and the attack from a pollutant such as acid precipitation. SOLUTION: The peelable coating composition comprises (a) an aqueous dispersion of at least one polymer which has a Tg of higher than 0 deg.C to 40 deg.C, (b) at least one amphoteric release agent having an isoelectric point of pH 3 to pH 8, (c) more than 0.20 mol to 2.00, based on 100 g the above polymer, at least one base capable of maintaining the composition at pH 8 to pH 11, and (d) more than 0.20 mol to 2.00 mol, based on 100 g the above polymer, at least one of any polyvalent metallic cation with a sum of the amounts of the base and the polyvalent metallic cation of more than 0.20 mol to 2.00 mol based on 100 g the above polymer.
