PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure smooth flow of fluid, in a impeller used in a fluid-type torque transmission. SOLUTION: A stator is used in a torque converter. The stator has a carrier 29, a plurality of blades 30 disposed on the carrier 29 and forming flow passages, and projections 29b disposed in the flow passages for generating microscopic swirls for absorbing shocks on faces of blades with which the fluid collides.
