PURPOSE: A system and a method for mediating a freight traffic using the Internet are provided to reduce freight rates by providing options to a consignor and a freight carrier. CONSTITUTION: A freight traffic mediation system is comprised of a mediating server(100), a common network(120), and information and communication equipments(122,124,125,128,130). The mediating server(100) provides a cyber-trade space to a consignor who sends own freight from one place to another place and a freight carrier who receives and transports the freight to a region. The mediating server(100) is comprised of a consignor database(110), a freight database(114) recording information about the freight that the consignor requests a transportation, a freight carrier database(116), and a trade database(117). The mediating server(100) includes a record media(118) containing an operation program, in order to support the operation of the mediating server(100) and a voice response system(119). The common network(120) is a transporting path of information, analyses a signal generated from the mediating server(100) and the information and communication equipments(122,124,126,128,130), determines as to whether it transmits the signal to which way, and transports the signal to the determined way. The information and communication equipments(122,124,126,128,130) are classified into the information and communication equipments(122,124,126) used by the consignor and the information and communication equipments(128,130) used by the freight carrier.
