PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a simulated running test for a chain C in a state close to the actual running. SOLUTION: This test device is formed by assembling a drive sprocket 15 for winding the chain C, a driven sprocket 21, a driving motor 11 for rotating and driving the drive sprocket 15, a brake 13 interposed between the drive motor 11 and the drive sprocket 15, and a flywheel 24 and an electric brake 25 connected to the driven sprocket 21 in this order. The electric brake 25 can apply arbitrary running load to the chain C, while the flywheel 24 and the brake 13 can apply impact running load simulating states in acceleration and downshifting.
