PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method of manufacturing optical fiber couplers capable of imparting a uniform tension to each fiber. SOLUTION: The manufacturing device 2 is constituted such that, in the first and second coated optical fiber tapes 32, 33 clamped by setting clamps 12-15, the optical fibers 32a, 33a with the coating removed over a prescribed section of these tapes inside the setting clamps are clamped by a pair of drawing clamps; that the bare fibers 32b, 33b with the coating removed over a prescribed section inside the pair of drawing clamps 16, 17 are clamped by a pair of fusion clamps 18, 19; that the bare fibers are heated and fused in close contact with each other, the fused part is drawn by the drawing clamps to form plural optical fiber couplers; and that a pair of center position setting clamps 20, 21 for making the center position of each clamp to coincide with each other is provided outside the pair of setting clamps. |
